Do not take things for granted (Friday, 18 Jan 2008)

Tonight, my father and I went out to buy some stuff. Including those items that I needed for my NCC LAND camp.

Walking along the pavement, we noticed a handicapped man sitting on a wheelchair. He was playing a guitar for donations. At a closer glance, I found out that he was also blind! I could not help but to feel sorry for the person. So I donated $2 to him. I made no sound, so obviously, he did not reply.

This experienced lead me to feel how life is precious. We are born without abnormalities, and we live good lives nowadays. Thus, we always take things for granted. Seeing the handicapped man playing the guitar without using his eyes goes to show how talented he is, for he must have worked very hard to achieve this standard. Mentioning this, I feel embarrassed that I have always been taking things for granted, while these people struggle live everyday…

I have to thank the man for letting me learnt a few lifelong values, and also realise how fortunate I am. I hope that this can motivate me to work harder and stop taking things for granted. =)
